Why Austin Car Owners Are Getting Paint Correction Now

Austin sun is hard on paint. UV exposure, heat cycles, and highway debris leave behind swirl marks, light scratches, and a dull haze that no car wash will fix. If your car looks flat or faded under direct light, that is paint damage, and it is getting worse every month you leave it.

Paint correction removes that damage at the surface level. A machine polisher works through the clear coat to cut away scratches and swirl marks, restoring the depth and gloss the paint had when your car was new. The result is visible immediately and lasts for years when properly maintained.

Beyond looks, corrected paint holds ceramic coatings and protective products far better than damaged paint. If resale value matters to you, a clean, corrected finish is one of the highest-return things you can do before listing a vehicle. Buyers notice. Dealers notice. The difference shows up in the price.

The Paint Correction Process

1

Wash and Decontamination

We start with a thorough hand wash to remove loose dirt, then apply a chemical iron remover and clay bar to strip out bonded contaminants from the paint surface. Polishing over contaminated paint causes new scratches. This step makes sure the surface is completely clean before any machine work begins.

45 to 60 mins
2

Paint Inspection and Depth Check

We inspect every panel under bright LED lighting and use a paint depth gauge to measure how much clear coat is left. This tells us exactly how aggressively we can safely polish each area. No guesswork, every correction decision is based on actual data from your specific car.

15 to 20 mins
3

Machine Polishing

Using a dual-action or rotary polisher, we work panel by panel with the correct compound or polish for the level of correction needed. Heavier defects get a cutting compound first, then a finishing polish to refine the surface. We work in small sections so every inch gets the same result.

2 to 6 hours depending on tier and vehicle size
4

Post-Correction Wipe and Inspection

Once polishing is complete, we wipe every panel with an IPA panel wipe to remove residue and reveal the true corrected finish. We then re-inspect under LED lighting from multiple angles to confirm all targeted defects have been addressed before moving to protection.

20 to 30 mins
5

Protection Application

A corrected finish needs to be sealed immediately to prevent contamination and preserve the result. Depending on your tier, we apply a spray sealant, paste wax, or prepare the surface for a ceramic coating. This step locks in the gloss and gives the paint a barrier against the elements.

Paint Correction FAQ

The cost depends on your vehicle size, the severity of the paint defects, and the correction tier that is appropriate for your car. We do not list flat-rate prices because a single stage on a small sedan and a multi-stage on a full-size SUV are completely different jobs. Get a free quote and we will give you an honest recommendation based on what your paint actually needs, no pressure, no upselling.
A single stage correction typically takes 3 to 5 hours. A two stage job runs 5 to 7 hours. A multi-stage correction on a larger vehicle can take a full day or be split across two appointments. We give you a time estimate when we quote the job so you can plan accordingly.
The correction itself is permanent, the defects we remove are gone. How long the paint stays looking that way depends on what protective coating goes on top and how the car is maintained afterward. With a ceramic coating applied after correction, you can expect years of protected, high-gloss paint. With a basic sealant, plan to re-seal every 3 to 6 months.
Avoid automatic car washes entirely, the brushes and harsh chemicals will reintroduce the swirl marks you just had removed. Use a pH-neutral shampoo and a two-bucket wash method, or bring it to us for a maintenance wash. If we applied a ceramic coating, we will walk you through the specific care routine for that product.
We stand behind the quality of our work. If you feel we missed defects that were within the scope of the agreed tier, contact us and we will make it right. For ceramic coatings applied after correction, warranty terms vary by the specific product and will be provided in writing at the time of service.
A regular detail cleans and protects the paint surface, it does not remove scratches or swirl marks. Over-the-counter scratch removers are fine-cut polishes that only work on very light surface marks and rarely deliver lasting results. Paint correction uses professional-grade compounds and machine polishers to actually abrade the clear coat, cutting below the depth of the defect. It is the only method that genuinely removes the damage rather than masking it.
Scratches that sit within the clear coat can be corrected through machine polishing. Scratches that penetrate through the clear coat into the base coat or primer, where you can feel a catch with your fingernail, cannot be fully removed by polishing alone. We will tell you honestly during the inspection which defects are correctable and which ones would need touch-up paint or professional paint repair.
