Austin Roads Are Rough on Paint. Here Is What PPF Actually Does.

MoPac, I-35, 183, 290 - every one of those roads throws gravel, debris, and road grit at your front end daily. Without protection, that adds up to chips, scratches, and scuffs that eat into your clear coat. Touch-up paint covers the damage. PPF prevents it.

Paint protection film creates a sacrificial barrier between your paint and everything the road throws at it. The film absorbs the impact. Your paint stays untouched. On a newer vehicle, that means no repair bills and no drop in resale value when you go to sell or trade in.

This is the service buyers look for when they are purchasing a used car. A vehicle with documented PPF coverage is a different conversation at the dealership than one with rock chips across the hood. PPF is not just about how the car looks today - it is about what it is worth in three to five years.

The Paint Protection Film Process

1

Request Your Free Quote

Fill out the quote form with your vehicle type and the coverage level you are considering. We will respond within the hour with a clear breakdown of what is covered under each tier and what fits your situation.

2 minutes to submit
2

Surface Decontamination

Before any film goes on, we wash and decontaminate every panel being wrapped. Fallout, road tar, and bonded contaminants are removed. If film goes over contamination, it traps it permanently - so this step is non-negotiable.

45 to 90 minutes depending on coverage
3

Panel Inspection and Paint Prep

We inspect every surface under direct light for scratches, swirls, or chips before wrapping. Film seals whatever is underneath. Any existing damage that needs addressing gets flagged before we proceed so there are no surprises after installation.

30 to 45 minutes
4

Film Cut and Installation

Panels are cut using precision patterns specific to your vehicle's year, make, and model. Film is applied wet, positioned, and then squeegeed flat to eliminate air and excess solution. Edges are wrapped and tucked where accessible for a clean, finished look.

2 to 6 hours depending on tier
5

Cure Period and Final Review

After installation, the film needs time to fully bond and any remaining micro-bubbles to dissipate naturally. We walk you through care instructions, what to expect during the cure window, and how to maintain the film going forward.

Paint Protection Film FAQ

We offer three coverage tiers - Partial Front, Full Front, and Full Body - with pricing based on your vehicle's size and the tier you choose. We do not post exact prices because every vehicle is different. Fill out the quote form and we will give you a specific number within the hour.
Partial Front coverage typically takes two to three hours. Full Front runs three to five hours. Full Body installations take a full day, sometimes split across two sessions depending on the vehicle. We will give you a specific time estimate when you request your quote.
Quality PPF installed correctly lasts anywhere from seven to ten years under normal driving conditions. Film longevity depends on how well it is maintained and where the vehicle is stored. Film parked outdoors in direct Texas sun will degrade faster than a garaged vehicle, which is why we walk you through a care routine after every install.
PPF is low maintenance. Wash the vehicle normally and avoid abrasive compounds directly on the film. Avoid high-pressure washing directly at film edges, especially in the first 30 days. A spray sealant designed for PPF can be applied to keep the film looking its best. We cover all of this with you at pickup.
Yes. The film products we use come with manufacturer warranties covering yellowing, cracking, peeling, and delamination. Warranty terms vary by film tier. We will walk you through the specific coverage that applies to your installation before we start.
They do different things. Paint protection film is a physical barrier that absorbs impacts, rock chips, and scratches. Ceramic coating is a chemical bond that adds gloss and makes the surface easier to clean, but it will not stop a rock chip. The best protection is both - PPF underneath, ceramic coating on top. We can discuss the right combination for your situation when you get your quote.
Yes. When installed correctly and removed properly, PPF comes off without damaging the paint underneath. This is one of the main reasons people choose it - the paint stays in factory condition for the life of the vehicle. Removal is best done by a professional to avoid any edge tearing.
Yes. Express Mobile Detailing serves Austin, Georgetown, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Manor, Leander, Hutto, and Liberty Hill. We come to your location so you do not have to drive anywhere. Just let us know your zip code when you request a quote.
